Note: Only one pic for now, since the other pics are with other people haha.
Some of the things that have happened lately:
Yumcha with Nigel, Zhansheng and Sook, before Nigel leaves for Adelaide. It was a fun time, filled with constant chatter and plans to meet again in Melb in April. It was really good to see them again after all this while, and I had an awesome time. :)
Zhansheng, me, Sook, Nigel. Thanks to Nigel for the pics!
Lunch with the Melb Bridge people, in honour of Meliza who came from Singapore for a week. Watched for the first time in my life the process of threading. It was scary and it looked painful, but the results were good. According to Steph and Meliza, on your first time, your eyes will become swollen and red for a few hours! Scary stuff. :p
Last Saturday, Manrou came down to visit us! :) Because Kyeli just had to choose that weekend to go Bangkok, and Kitmun wasn't feeling well, it was just Manrou and I for the earlier part of the day.
Brought her to 1U, but it was so damn jammed in the carpark that we left. Had lunch at Pizza Uno where we talked and talked, and I was very embarrassed to find that I dropped my purse in my car just after I offered to treat her! Hahah. It always happens like this; the last time I told Shanice I'd treat her, I didn't have enough money. =.=
So I paid her back later, and she treated me to Starbucks. Then we chatted more on those comfy couches. Later, Wei Siang called, and we successfully persuaded him to fetch us to Klang for seafood. :D
So off to Klang we went, where we visited his awesomely beautiful new house, his company, and Tanjung Harapan, where I went with Kinz just a few weeks ago. Later we went to Coconut Flower for seafood, Weisiang's treat. I'd say that the food was nothing great, but it's quite cheap for seafood!
We were telling Weisiang that to join JKLM, he'd need a new
English name. He decided his name should be something manly... hence,
"Man Lee Wei Siang". LOL!
After that, we came back to Guitar Hero, where Kinz joined us. Because we set up all four instruments beforehand, before Kinz joined us, I had to sing AND play the guitar at the same time! Do you know how damn neck-aching it is to hold the mike between your knees, sing into it with your back bent over the guitar while looking at the screen and strumming? Hahah.
Went home around 2am, where Manrou scared Weisiang and I for not picking up her phone after Weisiang dropped her off. But Weisiang was damn seng muk because he remembered her room number when he overheard her talking with her dad on the phone, and called the hotel. :)
It was a really fun day, and it was so great to be able to meet up with them again. There were so many times that I felt deja vu, and remembered times that we spent in Melb doing almost the exact same thing.
A little more than a week ago, met up with Wenting when she came to Malaysia. What started as a group of four somehow doubled to eight. Had pancakes and chatted. It was an awesome time of pictures, catching up, laughing and joking around, and listening to how incredibly comical and hilarious a proposal can be hahaha. True story! :D
With Wenting! ♥
Wengyan loves her money.
She loves it so much that she's giving Wenting weird eyes for trying to take it. LOL Wengyan's expression is so priceless here hahah.
Again with her money! :p With Wenting and Kitmun.
Ben, Venxhin and I, promoting handbags and.. uh.. man bags? :p
Leeroy, Juliet, Ben, Venxhin, Wenting, me, Kitmun, Wengyan. Thanks to Wenting for the pics - stole them off her FB. :)
Last Thurs, Calvin the relative organised a Melbourne Meetup, for all the peeps in Melb and soon-to-be Melb peeps. Sixteen people turned up, three of them new, one of whom was Sook. :)
During lunch, some of us girls tried to prove that guys could not multitask, hence we tried to ask Cheng questions while he played Snake on the phone, and he just could not answer us. On the other hand, when Steph played, she could even answer what 24x4 was (among others), and achieved a high score of 1200+! Do girls rock or what? Hahah.
Also, when I found out that Melvin (one of the new peeps) was going to be my junior, I smiled brightly at him from all the way across the long table, and asked him what everyone in my position would've asked: "Do you wanna buy textbooks??" :D
Later we headed for dessert, where Sook and I sat with the peeps from the other side of the long table, so we managed to mingle with almost everyone there that day. During dessert, we kept cutting the group up (ie when a few of them talked about iPhones, we'd draw a line between them and us - because people with iPhones are anti-social and live in their own little world hahah - and start another conversation on our side of the line). And for some reason, I always ended up being cut out into my own little space! -.-
That night, Kinz and I had dinner with Suehlung and Sook. And here's the oh-so-confusing story. First, SL asked Kinz for dinner. Kinz asked me if I was up for it. I asked Sook whether we're having dinner. She said that SL didn't tell her anything. Later, Kinz smsed to say that SL said not to tell Sook. I was like, HUH I just told her. Kinz said, then tell her we're not going anymore. So, while she wasn't looking cause she was driving, I with my very bad lying and acting went: Me: Oh, we're not going dinner anymore. St: Huh why? Me: ....Uh... Dunno.... Either Kinz or SL dowan kua St: Huh.. so weird wan Me: Ha ha.... yea.. so weird.......
-.-"
Lately the boyfriend and I have taken to playing congkak together. I don't know why. Hahah. But it's fun! Also, went shopping and bought a pair of sandals and a pair of flats, both of which I am so in love with. ♥
My new heels ♥
Denim flats! ♥ Thanks to Kinz for taking the photos. :)
The day after Pulau Ketam, which was the 9th, celebrated my birthday with the gang at Papa John for dinner.
Dinner was not bad, though the portions were a little silly - two 9 inch pizzas for a set meal meant for 6 people! That was exactly two small slices of pizza for each person. Crazy stuff. It wasn't enough and we had to order more, but the food was pretty okay. Nothing spectacular though.
Though, Vincent did enjoy the bread sticks. Don't ask why. Hahah.
One of the pizzas.
Their baked rice, which was not too bad, but not too great either.
I on the other hand enjoyed bossing people around a little, and then going, "It's my birthday!", though the usual replies I received were "Not yet" and "Don't push it". Oh well, birthdays only come once. Hahah. I made Michelle and Beng promise not to bully the boyfriend, and the only thing Michelle said to him was "God bless you". LOL.
(Hmm, at least I think that's what she said. Haha.)
With Michi, who kept her promise well! Hehe.
With Michi and Beng, who asked Michi, "Why you make that promise for me too!" Hahah.
With Sook :)
With Zhen!
Being a lamppost between Karl and Lilian!
Being another lamppost between Suehlung and Vince! Hahah.
With Vince and Puiling, who debated again about the submarine hahah!
With Andrew and Dee Mei, who came despite having exams two days later. Thanks! :)
Who's that?
Mingkim was there too, for a minute! :) Beng and Zhen bumped into him somewhere in Sunway, where he was supposedly getting people to donate their organs HAHA, but he denies it till this day. :p
Later after dinner, we headed back to my place to hang out. I didn't know what they would do at my place, but I guess drinks, snacks, Wi-Fi and Astro kept them busy for a few hours. Cze came and we took more pictures. At 12am, they gave me a slice of cake and I was supposed to feed each person. You'd think it'd be more awkward feeding the guys, but I felt more awkward feeding the girls. Not because I'm not close to them or whatever (on the contrary!), but because it felt kind of les, as I stared into their eyes and they smiled back at me and.. well you get the picture. -.-
With Cze, who came back for only a week before disappearing for another month!
Customary girls' pic! :)
With my cake. :) I get Chocolate Indulgence from Secret Recipe every year, and I think it's because I told Sook once that I like it. Hahah.
But from the looks of it, he likes it more than I do. Hehe.
It was sweet how everyone made an effort to turn up, and that was
probably the first time since I came back that everyone was there.
So thanks to everyone for coming, and to Kinz for being the photographer. :)
Yay for group shots where everyone is looking at the cam and not the TV. :p Plus Andrew, Dee Mei and Puiling who had to go home early.
The next day, on the 10th, went out for lunch at Rakuzen yet again with the family. During lunch, I was pouting about how they forgot what I asked for (an ice-cream cake). Them: .............. What you ask for?? Me: Harrrrrr... Dad: How you know we forgot? Me: You forgottttt!! Dad: We didn't forget! Me: You did! *pout* Dad: If we remember how! Me: I'll.......... I'll do the banana dance for you!!
As you can see, I was pretty darn sure they had forgotten, because I had mentioned it weeks ago. But at that moment he instantly went, "OKAY!!! You say wan arrr!" and that was when I had the sinking feeling that I had been conned. And true enough, I was!!!! When I got back, there it was!
So, needless to say, I realised that my parents are damn good actors (my sis isn't counted, since she was honestly blur and didn't know hahaha). And I had to do the banana dance on my 22nd. Mehh! :p
With my mummy, the best actress of them all. Btw I love my top! Hehe.
My ice-cream cake from Baskin Robbins! That clown is so so cute!
That night, I spent about two straight hours replying each and every birthday wish I received on Facebook, until I became quite dizzy hahah. I really appreciate each one, though it probably took less than a minute for them to write, but it's awesome when people you haven't spoken to in months/years actually took the trouble to say happy birthday. So yeah, I loved the fact that I could catch up a little with these people again! :)
Warning. If you can't tolerate too many pictures of me, please don't read. Thank you. :)
Oh! And I always forget: thanks to Kinz for the pics!
So I'm just gonna skip right to Friday, the 8th of January, when the boyfriend brought me on a day trip to I-didn't-know-where. In fact, the only things he told me the night before were: 1) I should dress comfy-ly. 2) I should dress for hot weather. 3) We'd need to take a boat there.
Being the geographically ignorant person that I am, I was still clueless. So that morning, excited and worrying about whether I've brought all I needed to bring when I don't even know what I should bring, I waited for him. I watched as the sky turned a dark shade of gray and after making me wait longer than he should've (hmph), we finally set out on our journey.
I randomly guessed that we were on the way to Klang, not knowing that I was right. When, after a long drive, he parked the car and asked me if I knew where we were going, I still had no idea. It wasn't until I saw the name on the jetty that I knew we were headed for Pulau Ketam! :)
It rained on the drive there, but by the time we got onto the boat, it had stopped. We almost got onto the wrong boat, but then we saw how dodgy the passengers who were waiting to board looked.
So we got on the right boat (or the submarine, as Pui Ling insists haha) and it was another 45 minutes to the island. Once there, as we were walking, Kinz told me that everyone here cycles, but a special skill that only women have are that they can cycle while holding an umbrella. And at that very moment, a woman with an umbrella over her head cycled by! We were like, "So it's true!!" hahah.
This isn't the jetty, just a jetty outside the temple for fishing boats.
We walked around the little island for a while, and thankfully it was after-rain so it was quite cooling. It was easy for them to spot us as tourists because we looked every inch the part. A while later (and it was not 100m as Kinz said!), we decided to stop for seafood lunch. There were so many restaurants that I didn't know which one to go to, so we just took the first one.
We ordered lala, butter prawns, mantis prawns and fried sotong. They were really fresh, and were not bad in taste. :)
All the yummy food!
After lunch, we decided we should rent bicycles to cycle around the island (after all, when in Rome, do as the Romans do.. so when in Pulau Ketam, cycle as the Pulau Ketam-ers do). By then, it had become really sunny and bright. Silly us forgot all about sunblock, so by the end of the day I had a mean, red sunburn on my back, and I swear I am now about three shades darker than I was. :(
One of the bicycles we rented. The cause of my sunburn! :p
Cycling around was fun! It took a while to get a hang of cycling again since I haven't been on a bicycle for ages. And it was pretty scary having to cycle on tiny cement roads without railings on either sides, because it was a two-way road! Meaning that when other bicycles came on the opposite direction, we had to go quite near the sides. Scary stuff! But fun nonetheless. :)
The people there are pro-cyclers, I tell you!
This one had railings, but some of them didn't! And cycling up bridges took lots of effort on my part, but the residents just cycled as if it were flat ground! -.-
Kinz kept saying he was worried that I was going to cycle right off the edge. -.-
We cycled practically the whole island. Among others, we saw many fishing boats, abandoned buildings, kampung houses, bridges, rats, and a woman drying prawns to get, well, dried prawns. We also heard a few houses having loud karaoke sessions as we cycled by. I was a little scared when we cycled past a crazy barking dog which was thankfully in a cage.
We stopped a few times, to take pictures and to rest in the shade. At one point, we had a very mini picnic outside an abandoned TM building, with the banana bread I baked and the chysanthemum tea I boiled for his sorethroat. Aww, I'm so sweet, I know. ;)
Taking photos together on what Kinz thinks was the Bridge of Love. Hmm. :)
I guess it goes without saying that, with his love of taking photos, and my love of posing for them, we ended up with pictures like these during our stops:
But I did take photos for him too! During the very few times he would let me. :(
He wasn't even aware I was taking this. I know it's not a great pic, but hey, I took pics for him too ok! :D Why don't photographers want their pictures taken?
In the evening, jumped on the boat back to Klang, and decided we'd head to Tanjung Harapan to watch the sunset.
And so we did.
In the rain. -.-
People do the darndest things. Hahah. But it wasn't all that heavy, and it was just towards the end. One couple was smarter than us; they held an umbrella while sitting there. We just sat there. Haha. :p
Watching the sunset
The sunset in the rain. :p
After that, rushed home for dinner with the parents, before zooming off to Sook's for a sleepover + girl talk with Sook, Mich and Cze. It was quite funny; the longer we talked, the longer Cze's status became. Hahaha. It's good to have her back. :)
NYE was spent at Karl's place, where we had barbecue and alcohol. Due to popular demand, I made potato salad with triple the amount of bacon I usually put in, and yet still I "failed" according to the guys, because the ratio of potato to bacon wasn't 1:1! -.-
They're always trying to change my potato salad into bacon salad. Sometimes I don't even know why I put potato in it, since the first thing they do is fish out all the bacon! -.-
Sook didn't come at the last minute, and it felt so incomplete without her! Especially since she bought 6 packets of sausages, she was supposed to come and help us finish them! :p
Burn baby burnn..
So we barbecued, and barbecued, and suddenly Kinz goes "Eh it's 12am already, happy new year!". I was so AHHHHH cause we missed the countdown, which is like the best part of a NYE celebration. We didn't see the fireworks on TV, we didn't see any overhead (though we did hear some in the distance), we didn't hear the countdown on the radio, and we didn't even have our own countdown! SO SAD LAH!!!! :(
Sad until wanna kill myself la. Who's scarier? Michi or me? Hahah.
Then we had a competition. We each took a chicken wing and put anything in it as a marinade, and the best tasting one after barbecue-ing would win. There were some really weird ones, and some that I didn't even dare to taste hahah. I really, really need to get that spicy chicken wing marinade recipe that Shanice is so famous for. It's awesome, and I want to make that the next time I have a barbecue! :)
The hosts, Lilian and Karl :)
Barbecued papaya. Don't ask. Beng's creation. :p
Later after Karl's parents and relatives went to sleep, and they finally tied the dog up, we had our drinking session with Karl's roulette thing. At first they came up with mixing really weird and gross stuffs together (Chivas + thick honey + a huge lump of greasy butter, anyone?). And after that drink, can you believe that they objected to my tap water? I mean, seriously? I'd drink tap water over that crap any day!
Karl's dog, which made me realise I am not an animal lover.
Lemons and shots as punishment for the game.
Sorry Zhen! This pic is too cute to not post up ahaha. As you can see, we were pretty wasted.
But thankfully, after a few more shots, and a few more chicken wings (haha!), we became tipsy enough/too busy drinking to even bother thinking of weird ways to mix our drinks. Before we knew it, we had completely wiped out a bottle of Chivas and a bottle of Baileys, and it was already 5am and we were all tipsy. I don't remember much after hitting the sofa and KO-ed.
The next day, we woke up at 8am, though in my case I think it's more accurate to say that I merely moved off the sofa at 8am, because I don't think I slept much, or at all, that night. It's so difficult to sleep on a small sofa, and I kept wondering why I chose to sleep on someone's sofa when I had a perfectly awesome bed waiting for me back home. :(
That morning, when they were having a meeting in the living room to discuss where we were going to have breakfast, I tried to get Suehlung and Zhenquan to move off their sofas so that I could take a quick nap. It ranged from trying to persuade them of the negative consequences of sleeping too much, to outright asking them to give me their sofas. And they all worked, hehe! :D
Breakfast later, and I felt quite ugh. I think I was hungover, though I can't be sure cause I don't know how hangovers are supposed to feel. And I said that I foresee that we will spend every 1st January being hungover, which really shouldn't be the case! Hahah. Oh well, I'm sure we'll find a way. :)
That night, went to a really breathtaking place for dinner. I was so amazed and awed with the place that I couldn't help grinning, looking around and soaking in the sights, and repeating how much I love the place. I really did fall in love with it. The food was not too bad, but it was really the ambience and decorations that made the place awesome. :)
Pictures don't do this place justice.
The chicken we had. I don't know why he takes better pics. :(
Muruku! Fun :)
Taming Sari!
Later, even though we were full from dinner, we decided to head out in search for dessert, where we again ended up in a place which awed me and I was really happy at that moment. I felt pampered and loved and it was almost magical. Hahah. I know it's cheesy, but it really did feel that way. :)
